Some things we believe and practice in the assembly at Apsley

The elders intend these doctrine write ups to be two things:

1.     a summary of our Bible study and discussions together about what the Bible teaches and how we are to practise it

2.     a summary of specific teaching and practice that will provoke all members of Apsley to further Bible study and discussion.

We’ll keep adding to it as we write up these summaries. Each teaching covered will make a statement about the doctrine or topic, summarize it and say what the Bible teaches us should result from it being properly believed and practised, and then list some Scriptures to help start a study of the doctrine or topic.Paul says in Ephesians that the Lord wants to see the saints equipped, for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (4:12–13)We want that for the Lord’s people at Apsley. So if you think we’re in error in anything we’ve included here, please talk with one or all of us about it. We want to learn together, striving together for the unity of the faith, to grow up together into him. This document is just one little effort toward that great goal. Please use it as a start to your own study, group discussions and prayers.
